Trees and shrubs suck up large amounts of water from the soil. When the soil becomes dry, equalising pressure is created which causes moisture to move to nearby dryer soil (a process known as matric suction). Matric Suction causes subsidence in the foundation soils and when a property is built on top of this land, its foundations become unstable often subsiding causing cracks to appear in the property’s concrete slab including walls and the repair bill can be thousands of dollars.

Shifting soils are often prevented by constructing an underground cut-off wall between the property and the tree, made from reinforced concrete or steel sheet piling. This is expensive, time-consuming and fails if the concrete cracks, allowing roots to weave their way through.
Our foundation barrier doesn’t suffer from these problems. It’s made from super-strength high density polyethylene which has 700% elongation. Even the biggest and most motivated tree roots are unlikely to break through.
